City of Garden Grove 60th Anniversary

On Saturday, June 18, 2016, join friends, family and neighbors as the City of Garden Grove throws a community celebration six decades in the making – its 60th Anniversary!

On that exact date in 1956, the City marked its official incorporation. This historic day was the culmination of a 40-year effort by citizens working to see Garden Grove finally achieve its much-deserved cityhood. The community was experiencing an exploding population 60 years ago, so the need for a local government to meet the needs of the-then 40,000 residents was crucial. Today, nearly 200,000 residents call Garden Grove home, and the City’s path to its 60th Anniversary has been paved with pride and progress.
